Glamping in the peaceful outdoors

Corriehall Stopover is a small farm made up of 8 acres of grassland and is based between Cargenbridge and Lochfoot which is approximately 3.5 miles from Dumfries town centre. Situated in beautiful countryside directly on cycle route 7 and central to the 7 Stanes. We live on the farm with our horses, which we imported ourselves from Southern Spain, along with our dogs and farm cats.

We purchased Corriehall in 2015 after completely falling in love with it and the surrounding area and whilst it has taken us some time to restore the cottage to make it habitable, (and which is still an ongoing project!), we have now taken the next step of making the farm self sufficient by setting up Corriehall Stopover for cyclists and walkers.

A little history...

Many years ago we believe Corriehall was built and used to house drovers overnight as they passed through with their animals for market and you can still see a strange "kink" in the boundary wall to the roadside where we believe animals could pull off the road to take fresh water from the overflow from the well that served Corriehall. With all this in mind we came up with the idea of creating Corriehall Stopover for the many cyclists that visit the area for both the mounting biking and touring therefore utilising Corriehall for the passing travellers once again.

Join us in rural Scotland

Our Shepherds huts are totally in keeping with the area which is made up of various farms - we still have an original Shepherds hut on the farm which we hope to renovate and utilise as the farm shop in future. We welcome either single overnight stays or longer stays to allow the exploration of the area and 7 Stanes mountain bike routes.

Our Shepherds Huts

Traditionally built

The shepherds huts are made of wood and are fully insulated and incorporate a traditional round corrugated roof.

Inspired by history

They are based on the old fashioned huts used by shepherds to live amongst their flocks during lambing season

A modern twist

We provide a modern twist by including a kitchenette and en-suite bathroom - all fully contained within the hut!

Touring Pitches

We also have 2 motor home hard standing pitches with 16 amp electric hook-ups for motor homes which are situated away from the Shepherds huts which are ideal for passing travellers taking the scenic route between Castle Douglas and Dumfries that just require an overnight pitch or for those who wish to stay longer and maybe utilise the 7 Stanes with their mountain bikes.

For our friends on 2 wheels

We are particularly close to Mabie Forest and Dalbeattie Forest and the forest of Ae are in the nearby region all of which have excellent mountain bike trails.

We provide secure cycle storage, wash down and repair facilities and carry a small amount of spares for minor repairs but if there is anything more serious we have a very good cycle shop which is nearby and easily reached.

A much much more!

There's plenty to see and do including fishing at the local lochs, lots of golf, and water sports at Caslte Loch in Lochmaben, such as kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding- only 15 miles away!

We also provide clothes washing and drying facilities.

There is a local bus service which runs into Dumfries and ends at the train station which will stop directly outside Corriehall which finishes around 7p.m. allowing the further exploration of the area.
